Macomb, Ill.- The Macomb Police Department has announced the arrest of a Chicago man following the execution of a search warrant at Western Illinois University. According to a news release, on April 28th the Macomb Police Department, along with the Western Illinois University Office of Public Safety, executed a search warrant on a dorm room within the University's Thompson Hall. As a result of the search, 19-year-old Oscar Herrera of Chicago was arrested. The search warrant was based on an ongoing investigation into the dissemination of child pornography through an online platform. Herrera was charged with Possession of Child Pornography and Possession of Child Pornography with Intent to Distribute.

Macomb, Ill.- The Macomb Police Department is investigating a death at 1680 Wheeler Circle. According to a news release, on Tuesday, February 7th, 2023, at about 5:44 AM, Officers began investigating the death. The Police Department says that there were "many resources in the area, and there is no active threat to the community". Macomb Police Department was assisted by Life Guard Ambulance, the McDonough County Sheriff's Office, Western Illinois University's Office of Public Safety, the Illinois State Police Zone 4 Investigations, as well as the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigations Unit. The investigation is ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
