(SPRINGFIELD) Members of the Illinois law enforcement community and House Republicans are urging Governor Pritzker to veto the sweeping bill reforming the state’s system of justice, which the Governor says he will review thoroughly before signing into law. The “lame duck” General Assembly passed the 700-page legislation in it’s final hours without allowing any questions or comments from those opposed to the plan. Many law enforcement groups indicate that if signed into law, officers from throughout the state will quit their current jobs and leave the profession and maybe even the state, mostly due to the personal liability issues within the provision.
