The FCHS Board of Education met for their monthly meeting last night. The board unanimously approved the tax levy of 4.94% for 2022, for taxes payable in 2023. A new grading system was approved by the board. The new system is the culmination of several years of discussion and research and involved faculty, parents, IECC, and retired educators. The new grading system should improve scholarship eligibility and will be implemented with this years freshmen class. The Fairfield Lions Club needs your help. Saturday, January 7th, the Fairfield Lions Club will be collecting Christmas lights that no longer work. The collection site will be at the west side of the Cornerstone Community Church located at the corner of Delaware and First Street, from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Fairfield City Council The Fairfield City Council will meet in regular session tonight at 6:00 pm in City Hall. Items in routine business will include approval to purchase absorption chamber screens for the filter plant, portable cargo container discussion, TIF Surplus, and the December 27th Council Meeting. ### FCHS School Board The Fairfield Community High School Board met in regular session last night. The current weighted grading system discussion was addressed, with FCHS staff members Lori Robson and Tammy Austin reviewing the current weighted grading system and presenting a proposal for a new system, which should be less confusing for college and scholarship applications. These changes would only effect those taking Honors Classes. All agreed that the current system needs changed and the new proposal should be studied further and addressed at a future board meeting. Fairfield Memorial Hospital's Senior Life Solutions will hold their Coffee Club from 9:30am – 10:30am today in the Fairfield Memorial Hospital Café. The Fairfield High School Board met last night. A Budget Hearing was conducted prior to the regular board meeting. There was no public comment on the FY22 Budget and it was unanimously passed during the regular business session. Fees were approved for the 2022-2023 school year. The Technology Fee is being waived for the year due to the sound financial condition of the district. Bids will be sought to demolish property at 301 West King St. the district recently purchased the property. In the Superintendent Report, Supt. Jill Fulkerson stated that several projects had been completed including: The roof project, Sealing of the parking lot, New carpet in the Study Hall, She further said that summer maintenance was progressing and several Sports Camps were being held at FCHS.
