Andrew Mitzel Argia Beristain Andrew Mitzel has joined Boise State University as director of government relations. Most recently, he served as a senior advisor to Idaho Governor Brad Little. During his tenure, he advised the governor and chief of staff on local, state and national politics; served as a policy advisor assigned to transportation, tax and real estate; reviewed and processed legislative bills with the governor and chief of staff and was charged with overseeing the 2020 Idaho Census Committee. Prior to his time in the governor’s office, Mitzel served as deputy campaign manager and field director for Little, political director for the Idaho Association of Realtors and staff assistant for U.S. Senator Mike Crapo. He is a two-time Boise State alumnus, receiving a master’s degree in community and regional planning and a bachelor’s degree in history. Union Pacific and Savage are collaborating on Idaho’s first intermodal rail terminal.

Savage Railport – Southern Idaho will benefit Idaho farmers and families by improving the economics of exporting containerized hay and other agricultural commodities, providing faster access to Asia and other world markets. Savage has entered into an agreement with
Union Pacific Railroad to construct and operate the terminal at Union Pacific’s rail yard in Pocatello, Idaho. The terminal is expected to be operational by mid-year 2021.
“Idaho’s agricultural and business communities need dependable transportation to get product into global markets,” said Idaho Governor Brad Little. “Transportation infrastructure projects like this rail terminal in Pocatello can create opportunities for Idaho businesses to grow and can help support export prospects for more agriculture producers.”
