The hearings by lake groups were postponed, but this year, the hearings resumed and citizens have sought definite clarification from the court on being able to revive MoUs with non-corporate entities.
The residents pointed out that despite the lake being restored a few years ago and even though a sewage treatment plant exists, the lake’s water quality is still deteriorating which is leading to fish kill incidents. In the last three months, the lake has been falling under class E, from the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board water quality analysis report. The Class E is designated for the use of irrigation, industrial cooling and controlled waste.
