Experts shed light on maritime security and growth opportunities in region
The 9th Inte¬rnational Maritime Conference (IMC) 2021, being organised by the National Institute of Maritime Affairs under the aegis of Pakistan Navy, and conducted in tandem with the 7th Multinational Maritime Exercise Aman-2021, reached its second day on Sunday.
The conference themed on ‘Development of Blue Economy under a Secure and Sustainable Environment: A Shared Future for Western Indian Ocean Region’ featured more eminent international and national scholars who elucidated a variety of issues pertaining to maritime security, the environment and relevant growth opportunities in the region.
Like the previous day, the second day of the conference was also divided into three sessions. The IMC-21 is themed on ‘Development of Blue Economy under a Secure and Sustainable Environment: A Shared Future for Western Indian Ocean Region’.

The Nigerian Navy says it is re-equipping its operational headquarters in Baga town of Borno State, looted by Boko Haram.
The Baga Naval Base was dislodged in December 2018 after a fierce battle with the Boko Haram insurgents.
This is according to the Chief of Training and Operations of the Naval Headquarters, Rear Admiral Ibikunle Taiwo Olaiya.
Olaiya represented the Chief of Naval Staff at a new year get together with troops in a make-shift base in Maiduguri.
The naval chief praised the efforts of personnel during the attack which according to him “allowed personnel of sister services and paramilitary then based in Baga to withdraw safely including many civilians.”
