ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) Underserved communities in the Rochester area have been struggling to get people vaccinated. Johnson & Johnson’s news Tuesday about reported blood clots prompted the Food and Drug Administration as well as the Center for Disease Control and Prevention to recommend a pause in the use of the vaccine out of an abundance of caution.
“Our big concern is the uneasiness that already exists about taking the vaccine that could spread. It’s already feeding into people’s objections of ‘it was developed too quickly,’” said Julio Sáenz, Chief Communications and Development Officer for Ibero-American Action League.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) Saturday brought about 200 Rochester city residents one step closer to protection from coronavirus.
A pop-up vaccination clinic was held at the Trenton & Pamela Jackson R-Center (also known as the Baden Street R-Center) on Saturday for people 65 and over living on the city s northeast side. The goal of Saturday s clinic was to target vulnerable and underserved communities that might not have access to transportation or the internet. The neighborhood pop-up sites are critical, says Daniele Lyman-Torres, Commissioner for the Department of Human Services for the City of Rochester. They re critical to access access where people can walk to sites and locations that are familiar to them, that are comfortable, that they know that the people who work inside look like them, speak their language, and can support them through the process.
