Vaccine access: Older residents eligible for walk-in service at Rochester and Buffalo sites

ALBANY — Access to COVID-19 vaccinations has become even easier for older residents. A total of 16 mass vaccination sites statewide will accept walk-in appointments for people at least 60 years old, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday. That includes two locations in Rochester and one in Buffalo. “Every day our state moves closer to a post-pandemic future by vaccinating more New Yorkers, and we’re building on that momentum by making it easier for our residents to get vaccinated, expanding eligibility and opening new vaccination sites across the state,” Cuomo said. “We’re taking that effort a step further and making the vaccine more accessible to older New Yorkers by allowing walk-ins to get vaccinated at 16 mass vaccination sites. A robust vaccination program is vitally important to the public health, and we’re working 24/7 to get shots in arms, protect New Yorkers and move the state forward.”

Lifespan: 67% of older adults in Monroe County vaccinated, walk-ins will only help

Created: April 21, 2021 10:22 PM ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC)  Supply is finally starting to meet demand when it comes to vaccines in Monroe County. The governor s office announced Wednesday that anyone 60 or older won t even need an appointment and can walk right into any state-run vaccine sites as of Friday. Lifespan s Vice President of Marketing and Communications Mary Rose McBride says as of April 15, their records show that 67% of our older adults in Monroe County have been fully vaccinated and that this news from the governor s office will only increase those numbers. Obviously we still want it to be more, but the governor s invitation for 60 and older can just walk into a pop-up site is great information,” McBride said.
