Mavs volleyball looks to build off 2023 season

MOSES LAKE – This year’s Moses Lake volleyball team built off the strides the 2022 squad made, qualifying for the district playoffs and finishing the year at 8-8. “Three years ago the girls did not win a match. I can’t even remember if we won a set or two,” Trammell said on the Studio Basin podcast. “Going into last year and winning matches, taking fourth in league and missing districts by one playoff game – that still haunts us – was fantastic. They saw we can do this, that the hard work is paying off.”

Despite playoff losses, Tigers and Huskies gain experience from 2023

MOSES LAKE – Both Ephrata and Othello entered 2023 after successful seasons on the field the year prior, having qualified for the 2A state playoffs, but graduated numerous starters that helped the teams win games. The Tigers and Huskies found success with young teams and new faces again this year, making it back to the playoffs before falling last weekend to North Kitsap and Enumclaw, respectively.

Mavs hit top-10 at state three years running

MOSES LAKE – The Moses Lake girls swim and dive team clinched a top-10 finish at the 4A State Swimming and Diving Championships in Federal Way for the third-straight season last weekend, finishing sixth in the state with 128 points. Moses Lake placed fourth last season and seventh in 2021.

Pitts scores four touchdowns in ACH s win over Concrete

MOSES LAKE Facing off against No. 11 seed Concrete, the No. 6 Almira/Coulee-Hartline Warriors overcame an early double-digit deficit to advance into the second round of the 1B State Football Playoffs, defeating the Lions 42-26 at Lions Field in Moses Lake. “It feels great,” ACH coach Brandon Walsh said. “Obviously last year we lost out in the first round; for a lot of these kids, getting that monkey off their back was a big deal. Hopefully, we got some of the mistakes out of our system, because we didn’t play the cleanest football we ever have today.”
