Growing self-worth: Gardening a way out of homelessness

Growing self-worth: Gardening a way out of homelessness The Barnstable Patriot WEST BARNSTABLE Two local nonprofits, Resilient Roots and Homeless Not Hopeless, are collaborating on a spring project designed to empower people previously homeless to create regenerative, organic suburban gardens.  In 2020, the organizations collaborated at one of Homeless Not Hopeless s transitional homes in Hyannis, working with residents on garden projects. This year, Homeless not Hopeless residents will work alongside Resilient Roots staff and volunteers there and at three other locations to create and plant gardens based on regenerative design principles – i.e., growing food in a manner that is sustainable and uses local resources.
