As per EdelGive Hurun India Philanthropy List 2023, Susmita and Subroto Bagchi are the 6th spot among India's most charitable people. The couple donated over Rs 1100000000 last year.
Shiv Nadar, founder of HCL Tech, remains India s top philanthropist, donating Rs 2,042 crore in 2023. Azim Premji of Wipro follows with Rs 1,774 crore. Indian philanthropy surges, with 119 donors contributing Rs 8,445 crore, showing a 60% increase from last year. Education, art, culture, heritage, and healthcare were the preferred causes.
One such figure on the list is Azim Premji, the IT magnate from Wipro, who along with his family gave Rs 1774 crore, making him the second most generous person in India. Premji's donation has exceeded Reliance boss Mukesh Ambani's contribution, which was Rs 376 crore.
