Since the fire the west Chester Community has rallied around the displaced seniors and staff a many residents lost everything they had. Yesterday at the Goodwill Fire Company so many donations of clothes walkers toiletries you name it all came in. Within a few hours they had to turn donors away. Today we spoke to some of the families of seniors. How is he holding up. Hes in the hospital, hes got smoke inhalation but his breathing is getting better. Reporter he came in donations for his father in law. He says the worker from barclay friends had a bag already sorted out for him. Have a walker which is almost of exactly like the one he had so that will help him a lot. Reporter he like so many today want to thank this community for all of the help. We have the clothes, his nightclothes he calls them, he crawled out and he had nothing left. Reporter great to see how this community has rallied. Through the holidays. New video paints terrifying picture. Heavy smoke outside the Barclay Friends Senior Living Center thursday night. Frail elderly residents trying to escape with their lives as firefighters pull up carrying one woman to safety. 133 residents did make the out along with 15 staff members. Thanks to the heroics of so many. Firefighters, police officers, staff members, citizens had minutes to get those citizens out. Many of them in wheel chairs, walkers, many of them with physical and mental issues. Reporter so many survived despite overwhelming obstacles the lazy hot firefighters helmets started to melt but four residents are still missing all in their mid 80s to early 90s including a husband and wife. Given the circumstances, experts would have expected 50 people to have perish. While a tragedy its a small miracle that we only have four people unaccounted for.
