Thankfully in this department doesnt look to be all that busy, which is what we like to hear especially around the holiday. We started the day today on the chilly side. Those winds though coming way down from where they were yesterday when we clocked to near 50 miles an hour. Allentown right now 20 miles an hour sustained wind, 18 in philadelphia, 10 in trenton, same for the Atlantic City airport and 15 in wilmington but again, at least we have that clear sky and were not looking at any rainfall. In fact we take a look at the airport live on sky6 and you can see that glow on the horizon as the sun is about to set here and a cloudless sky as well. So, as we take a look at the travel delays as we start the big holiday week, pretty much zero everywhere, just a small bump in newark and then as we head wider, you can see even in the Northern Plains, in the midsection of the country, the deep south zero delays at all major airports right now. Some Police Officers in Fort Worth Texas narrowly escaped a catastrophe last week and the orlando deal was captured on dashcam. Your name must be on the list and we are not talking about the naughty or nice one. That is your business. Finally heres a question. Theres a popular thanksgiving staple hitting your holiday table this week likely and many may not know that it is a fruit. And we are not talking about cranberries. Green beans, yes, green beans people treated as a vegetable but a fruit. Botanists say fruits are structures that contain seeds. That are seeds in those green bean pods. Its technically called a dry fruit like all legumes which means when fully developed the pod will dry out and crack opened to reveal a mature seed. There will be a test on this later. By now you probably know a tomato is a fruit but more specifically its actually a berry. Ahh. I still dont like green beans. Ill eat both myself. No. Doesnt change my opinion. None for brian but ill take it. I go right for the stuffing. You can have mine. [laughter] thank you alicia. Lets get another check on the roads right now. Matt pelman here now with the update. Hey, matt. Green beans are one of the few vegetables i actually like so im sticking with vegetable. It is a vegetable in my book. I might be the only one but good afternoon to you, brian and sharrie. The seeds have been planted for a rough ride home here along 202 in Chester County thanks to this, southbound accident. This is our second 202 accident of the afternoon. This one is southbound in malvern between 29 and 401. Its taking out the left lane. Had been blocking the center lane as well so traffics really slow. 46 minutes on that southbound travel time. Its about three times what it should be as you come southbound away from the schuylkill down toward the 30 bypass. You start to jam right around 252. So, i would stick with business 30, which is lancaster avenue instead of 202. Our other 202 accident in west chester by matlack street, that ones gone. Still some slow speeds in that neck of the woods but all of the lanes are opened on that chunk of 202. Elsewhere in Chester County in thorndale, theres a crash along 340, kind of between the bypass and business 30. I would just use 322 to get around that. If youre out and about in Oreland Montgomery a vehicle broke down on 309 northbound at paper mill. Right lane is blocked as you head near the pennsylvania turnpike. In Bristol Township a crash along new falls road at sunset avenue. Luckily that has cleared out of the way. For the most part this afternoon on the schuylkill and 95 its just normal volume but getting into new jersey is still rough at the walt whitman bridge because we still have that jackknifed truck up ahead on 42 southbound blocking the right lane at the 55 onramp so coming off the bridge, it is pretty much a stand still on 42 southbound. Think alternates like the black horse pike. Well check it again, though, brian and sharrie, coming up in the 5 oclock hour. Matt thank you. Take a live look outside this evening. Chopper6 giving us a beautiful view of sunset over center city philadelphia. Meteorologist adam joseph coming up with your thanksgiving day forecast when we come back. Well, its a big week. A lot of friends and family coming into town and its looking pretty good. It is. One tiny bump in the road wednesday morning with showers but thats about it. Smooth sailing otherwise. As we take a look at the action cam which was out in Fairmount Park earlier today, you can see there most of the leaves have dropped at this point, very late in the year. Some are Still Holding on to their leaves, the trees, that is. But those winds of yesterday really kind of pulled a lot of them down. So as we take a look at sky6 live in the Weather Center as you can see from that Vantage Point earlier in the day it was beautiful. A bit on the chilly side as we look at sky6 at city hall there at dillworth park and the rothman ice rink. A lot of folks enjoying this evening. I see a lot of hats and gloves on. Thats because of the wind that continues to funnel around especially in center city as it carves through a lot of buildings it can pick up steam. 18 miles an hour sustained in the city, 20 in parts of the lehigh valley, 15 in millville and 12 miles an hour in lancaster. So, when you factor in that wind, you take a look at the wind chills, 37 in allentown, 30s for lancaster, 41 in philadelphia, 42 in millville, same for cape may, so, yes, theres a chill in the air but going to turn things around for your tuesday. Satellite and radar, a few high clouds up to the north but that is about all. High pressure in control and you can see the lack of cloud cover as we go into the overnight hours its clear its cold but lighter winds. Its kind of pulling down to around four to 8 miles an hour. 29 in the suburbs. 37 degrees for center city. So above freezing in the city itself. Then as we go into tuesday, tomorrow, were between fronts so we get a southwesterly wind. Thats a milder wind with just high clouds in the afternoon, 59 degrees. Some thermometers easily could touch 60 here and then as that cold front comes through its very early on wednesday morning, a couple of predawn showers. Otherwise quickly turning sunny here wednesday morning into the afternoon. A little bit cooler, 54 degrees and then High Pressure comes in behind that front going into thanksgiving itself. So its sunny, calm winds, really a perfect thanksgiving despite its a little on the cold side. So, your travel day on wednesday, lunchtime, 50 degrees, in boston 47 new york city 49 in philadelphia, the rain is off the coast even for new england. If youre heading down to the south really quiet weather here as well, 70 in charleston at lunchtime on wednesday, a little cooler in lexington, 40 degrees, atlanta 60 degrees and in the Northern Plains great lakes, its cold here but as you could see theres no major storms on wednesday anywhere in the country, 20s and 30s in that area. As we look at the exclusive accuweather 7day forecast, 59 tomorrow on the mild side and then an early shower wednesday, otherwise its a sunny day, 54 degrees. The coldest day will be thanksgiving but again, at least were not going to have any wind or wind chill to contend with. 45 in the afternoon for the 6abc Dunkin Donuts thanksgiving day parade. 30s for the majority of the parade and then a nice recovery come black friday, 52 degrees. Mild saturday, near 60 again with some late showers developing saturday afternoon, saturday evening. Then another windy sunny windy sunday, that is, at 45 degrees and cold, monday only 39 degrees. So looking good here for the week. Yeah, a lot of 50s in there. Which is not bad for november. Excellent. Navigating the cost of childcare. Well talk about that in whats the deal. Dang.
