Hungarian Opinion: Government Rejects Criticism By US Secretary Of State Over Media Freedom BudaPost In an online press conference, Antony Blinken expressed concern over media pluralism in Hungary and called for a more diverse media environment. Answering a question by Telex during a virtual international meeting with eight invited journalists, Antony Blinken called  it ‘ironic’ that concerns over press pluralism should emerge after Hungary got rid of Soviet domination. The US Secretary of State urged the government to promote an open environment and warned that in their efforts to compete with the West, China and Russia ‘undermine the democratic and sovereign will of many countries in the region’. Hungarian Opinion: Heated Dispute Over Vaccination BudaPost As the third wave of the pandemic hits Hungary, a respected surgeon calls for ethical proceedings against GPs who hesitate to recommend the Chinese jab to patients. Magyar Nemzet’s Levente Sitkei interprets the siege of the Capitol as a cocktail of popular revolt against corrupt elites and violent rampage. The pro-government commentator acknowledges that President Trump has massive responsibility for the events, but adds that political elites in general are blameworthy for not clarifying what he calls the half-truths over the alleged election fraud.  Sitkei thinks that at this point, we will never learn to what extent such allegations are true.
