Humanitarian Coordinator (m/f/d) - Asia & Americas

Main objective of the role: The Humanitarian Coordinator (HC) works in an advisory role and in close coordination with the Country Offices, Initiatives (thematic areas), Humanitarian Action Team, project partners and disabled people’s organizations. S/he works under the guidance and supervision of the Regional Programme Manager. The Humanitarian Coordinator will support the design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and learning of CBM’s emergency responses. S/he will take a proactive role in advising countries in the development of their country preparedness and emergency response plans, development of country hazard maps, as well as promote and support the delivery of CBM’s Inclusive Humanitarian Strategy at Country and Regional level.

Humanitarian Advisor

: · Provide leadership and strategic direction to all programmatic aspects of Save the Children International humanitarian and emergency responses in Niger · Coordinate, review and input on humanitarian assessments, reports, proposals, sector program plans, master budgets, response strategy and other key planning processes and documents · Ensure countrywide humanitarian analysis, representation and coordination with humanitarian stakeholders · Ensure the improvement of the country-office’s capacity to respond to emergencies throughout the country · Identify, and advocate for immediate and appropriate actions to respond to specific children s needs during humanitarian crises. · Ensure cross sector collaboration among technical units/sectors during humanitarian crises. · Ensure integration with ongoing development and transition to development programs, and identify possible durable solutions whenever possible

Background to the National Humanitarian Conference (NHC) Since its creation in 2011, the NHC has been held four times. Here is a look back at the main conclusions of these key humanitarian meetings. 2011 Edition In 2011, during discussions held at the first National Humanitarian Conference in the presence of Alain Juppé, then Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, the need to strengthen consultation fora for the humanitarian community became apparent. The principle of a national humanitarian conference, meeting regularly and periodically, was agreed against a backdrop of increasingly significant humanitarian needs. Requests for financial support were increasing globally to address the rising number of large-scale disasters and increasingly complex conflicts. The development of a French humanitarian strategy, enshrined in the European Consensus on Humanitarian Aid, was called for, and it materialized in 2012 with the drafting of France’s Humanitarian Strategy (2012-2017).
