media@cbcfinc.org WASHINGTON The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s (CBCF’s) National Racial Equity Initiative for Social Justice (NREI) fellowship program this month is marking one year of advancing social justice and racial equity and welcoming four new Congressman John R. Lewis Social Justice Policy Fellows. CBCF launched NREI in June of 2020 in response to the protests of police killings of unarmed Black Americans and the historically unlevel playing field for minorities. NREI’s mission is to combat systemic injustice and advance racial equity, human rights, education, and community and economic development opportunities for the Black community. In July 2020, the fellowship program was renamed to honor the late Congressman John R. Lewis, a leader in the U.S. Congress and the fight for racial equity. The John R. Location: Guinea (Conakry) Project Description: The Center on Human Trafficking Research & Outreach’s African Programming and Research Initiative to End Slavery (APRIES) at the University of Georgia in the US is seeking a consultant to advise a program to combat human trafficking in Guinea. APRIES manages a grant from the U.S. Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons to estimate and reduce the prevalence of child trafficking in Guinea. The overall goals of our project are to measurably reduce child trafficking in Boke and Mamou areas of Guinea through the following objectives: Collect, analyze, and establish robust baseline data on the prevalence of child trafficking in Boke and Mamou areas of Guinea.
