financial pressure and the government in syria is feeling it. the lack of control results from that. chris: the slaughter intensified. the international commune sit joining in that importantly the arab league and our allies. chris: has it stopped the slaughter? the transition from tyranny to democracy have very hard. the syrian people have to handle this in a way that works in syria. and the brutality of the assad regime is unacceptable and has to end. no question that this regime will come to an end. the only question is when. we are pursuing all avenues we can to bring pressure to bear. chris: we are not arming them and imposing a no drive zone. and to deal with the human rights problems that flow from it. the last thing needed in syria now is more violence. chris: so we can t stop the violence because that would create more violence? i think there is a lot of pressure being brought to bear and think that it has been effective and it will be effective.
now to the other big story we re following today, the death of singer whitney houston. we re learning more about the circumstances surrounding her death and we re getting reaction from her family as well. that in a moment. but first, to the investigation, cnn s casey wians is following all the developments, joining us now live from los angeles. what can you tell us? it looks like it may be quite a while before we actually get any results as to what actually killed whitney houston. according to producer stan wilson, he spoke with the los angeles coroner s office and they say the beverly hills police department has asked that a security hold be put on the autopsy results of whitney houston. that autopsy is expected to take place either this afternoon or tomorrow and there was some initial thought there could be some preliminary results released right after it happened. apparently that is not the case. the beverly hills police department again asking for a security hold on tho

megyn: we are hearing that there are some protesters near you that this is related to the chinese president s visit. these are live pictures coming in. reporter: no question about that. a short distance from where i m standing there are free tibet protestors talking about china s human rights issues. ahead of the president s visit they are making themselves heard. they are protesting outside the chinese embassy as well. it s not clear how much of this president hu jintao will see. the joint news conference tomorrow, president hu jintao is not used to taking questions from reporters. we ll see if there are any awkward moments in that press conference. megyn: president bush declined to host a dinner for china s president due to the human rights problems. this could be the most important dinner that president obama has hosted in his presidency. we ll be covering it and have
