My job was to stand off the house floor and ask every congressman what they thought of the days news. So, i quit my job and i went about as far away as i could go, and i moved to the country of cambodia. And i spent a year and a half there reporting on events there, and it was an amazing experience. People were the country was emerging from 30 years of civil war, from a genocide in which one in four people died of murder, starvation, and disease.

And when i came back, i wanted to write more about the theme of human resilience and i found that in the United States, some of the most exciting stories of human resilience are being unleashed by technology.
