Close to 3,000 children attending elementary school across Waterloo Region were suspended from school on Wednesday morning for not having up-to-date immunization records.
Region of Waterloo Public Health reported Wednesday morning that 2,969 elementary students have been suspended because of out-of-date vaccination records. The records must be updated under the Immunization of School Pupils Act.
March break is just weeks away and many families will use the break from school to go on vacation. Ahead of that, they're being urged to ensure their vaccinations are up-to-date. That's as measles spreads in Europe and parts of the U.S.
