The Region of Waterloo Public Health in Ontario, Canada issued suspension orders that required young students to get all their necessary vaccines and update their records within a six-week period, or face suspension. The region has issued the orders to a total of 18,643 students who have until March 27, 2024 to update their records.
In Waterloo region, 10.9 per cent of people are up-to-date on their COVID-19 vaccine boosters. Federal figures show 15 per cent of the population aged five and up had received an updated vaccine by Dec. 3.
As of Monday, anyone over age six months is now eligible to get their next COVID-19 shot and flu shot. Appointments can be booked with local pharmacies, through public health or with family doctors.
