FAIRFIELD Brooke Schreier Ganz, the first genealogist to successfully sue a government archive to return records to public access, will present “Reclaim the Records: How Genealogists Can Use Freedom of Information Laws” at the next meeting of the Solano County Genealogical Society.
The virtual presentation begins at 11 a.m. Saturday.
Ganz’s nonprofit organization, Reclaim the Records, seeks to obtain copies of previously inaccessible records, which it then digitizes and puts online for free. Her presentation will explain how this is done and how ordinary citizens can use the FOI laws to obtain records that help document their family history.
