In 2019, on the day after Thanksgiving, Mr. James proposed to Ms. Myer in Lafayette, while the couple was in town to celebrate Mr. James’s grandmother’s 90th birthday.
“With a turkey carcass for Aaron’s dog in hand, I walked into a room lit with candles with Leon Bridges’s ‘Beyond’ playing, and I knew what was about to happen,” Ms. Myer said. “I immediately put down the carcass and slipped off the rings I had adorning my left ring finger.”
The Children s Museum Houston recently honored 12 Houston ISD teachers with its annual Marian and Speros Martel Early Childhood Educator Award. Garden Oaks Montessori Magnet (GOMM) teacher Faith Davis was the sole area teacher to be recognized.
The winners of the award are pre-K through third-grade teachers who exemplify excellence in the classroom. Nominated by either parents, principals or others aware of their classroom work, they were selected by a committee of educators.
GOMM Instructional Specialist Angela Borzon nominated Davis.
âShe has just brought so much life to the virtual environment,â Borzon said. âShe is a virtual teacher whose students are all virtual. Just about any day, you can find her leading her class from her butterfly garden or near some beautiful artwork.â
