After another year of impactful work in the community, Russell Westbrook has been named one of the NBA’s 10 finalists for the 2020-21 Seasonlong NBA Cares Community Assist Award. Volunteers with Be The Solution in east Houston loaded their cars Saturday morning to make home deliveries of water and food to senior citizens, who would otherwise go without. Energy Sector Assisting Texas Relief Efforts Following February Freeze
Following the devastating winter storm Uri last month that left millions of Texans without electricity for days and billions in damages, utilities and oil and gas producers, along with other industries, have stepped up to assist with relief efforts.
The damage and economic losses from the winter storms in February could reach $155 billion across the country. Damages in Texas alone have been estimated at $50 billion-plus. In reaction, energy companies with operations in Texas have donated millions.

Reliant Energy is donating $50,000 to the Houston branch of Rebuilding Together, a nonprofit focused on repairing homes, to direct support to at-risk seniors and military veteran homeowners to repair weather damage.
Aramco Americas has made three donations worth a total of $1 million to help Houston and Port Arthur with critical public health needs following Winter Storm Uri.
Aramco Americas, the U.S. Subsidiary of Saudi Aramco, has revealed that it has made three donations worth a total of $1 million to help Houston and Port Arthur with critical public health needs following Winter Storm Uri.
As part of the donation, the Houston Health Foundation received $500,000 for seniors and at-risk populations, and the Houston Harris County Winter Storm Relief Fund received $400,000 for winter weather relief to help Houstonians with plumbing and home repairs, temporary housing, and other basic needs relief. The Southeast Texas Emergency Relief Fund also received $100,000 to help residents in the city of Port Arthur, where Aramco’s wholly owned subsidiary Motiva operates North America’s largest refinery and chemical complex.
Kroger is continuing to provide aid to communities impacted by the historic winter storm in Texas.
