TRADE GLOBAL MEETING ON VACCINE IP RIGHTS SET TO ASK FOR MORE TIME: The World Trade Organization (WTO) Council for Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) meets today to discuss whether special rules are needed for Covid vaccine intellectual property the so-called “IP waiver.” There’s no consensus, or even a fragment of consensus: the TRIPS Council members are expected to ask the WTO’s General Council for more time to discuss the waiver, a Geneva-based trade official told POLITICO’s trade team.

Nur-Sultan, 4 February 2021 – The National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan and with the support of the USA and other international partners, carried out an operation to return a group of Kazakhstan citizens from Syria to their homeland.
The group consists of four men, one woman and seven children, including two orphans. In accordance with the national legislation and international commitments, persons involved in terrorist activities will be prosecuted. Orphans are transferred to the care of close relatives and the government will ensure all the necessary assistance to them. The woman and children will be provided with the rehabilitation and resocialization programs.
TI 2020 report negates govt’s claim of old data

ISLAMABAD: The PTI government claims that the data used by Transparency International (TI) for its 2020 global report on corruption is from the tenure of the PML-N government but even a cursory look at the report negates what the media czars of the regime are propagating.
According to the TI’s latest report, the following 13 data sources were used to construct the Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) 2020:
1. African Development Bank Country Policy and Institutional Assessment 2018
2. Bertelsmann Stiftung Sustainable Governance Indicators 2020
3. Bertelsmann Stiftung Transformation Index 2020
4. Economist Intelligence Unit Country Risk Service 2020
