One of the suspects accused of the 2016 Paris robbery of Kim Kardashian has written a tell-all book called
I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian. In the book, Yunis Abbas reveals bizarre details about the night, including the fact he escaped on a bicycle and singer Tracey Chapman tried to call Kardashian in the midst of the heist.
It s been almost five years since five gunmen entered Kim Kardashian s room at Paris Hotel de Pourtalès, gagged and restrained her and held her at gunpoint as she begged for her life and they stole more than £7m of jewellery, including her £3.5m engagement ring from husband Kanye West. Kim Kardashian, who was robbed and held at gunpoint in Paris, 2016
At 2:30 am on October 3, 2016, Yunis Abbas, a 63-year-old French-Algerian, made his way to Paris’s Hotel de Pourtalès to rob one of the richest women in the world: Kim Kardashian.
Along with four other men in their sixties and seventies, all dressed as policemen and wheeling pushbikes, the elderly conspirators entered Kim Kardashian’s rented apartment and held her at gunpoint. They zip-tied her hands and ankles, dumped her in the bathtub and promptly made off with £7 million worth of jewellery and two mobile phones.”
It was a shocking crime, reportedly set in motion after the reality star marked her Paris arrival with Instagram photo featuring a £3.5m diamond ring. But a new book - written by Abbas, who is currently awaiting trial - reveals just how madcap their audacious plot was. I Kidnapped Kim Kardashian, his recollection of the biggest robbery of an individual in France in two decades, is by turns
In the book, Abbas apparently discusses Kim trying to call 911 as the robbery ensued, despite being in France. The emergency number to alert authorities in France is 112. “Our two beauties stubbornly tried to call 911 … the emergency call number for the US, Abbas writes in the novel. Not very efficient when you are in Paris.” Kim and her secretary were staying in the luxury Hotel de Pourtalès complex in Paris for Fashion Week in October when robbers broke into their suite, tied and gagged Kim, then held her at gunpoint as they robbed her of $10 million worth of jewellery– including her engagement ring. Abbas also wrote about the group accidentally taking Kim s phone after the robbery and seeing that she was getting a call from Tracy Chapman as they were making their escape from the scene on bikes.
