The message was conveyed by Terengganu deputy health director Dr Saifur Rahman Muhammad to some 40 junior medicals officers who attended a one-hour engagement session held at the hospital s auditorium yesterday. The body of Mohamed Salleh, 91, who died of pneumonia at 3.20am, was taken to the cemetery at about 10.15 am. The burial process was handled by some 10 personnel from the Terengganu Health Department who were wearing personal protective equipment (PPE). However, his family members and journalists were not allowed to be at the burial ground. ADVERTISEMENT His son-in-law Wan Pauzi Yahya said Mohamed Salleh, who was Chairman of as-Salihin Trustee Berhad, was admitted to Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah (HSNZ) here on Thursday after he tested positive for Covid-19.

Legal giant gone but not forgotten

He was 91. Salleh’s demise from pneumonia at 3.20am yesterday came a day after he was admitted to the intensive care unit of Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah in Kuala Terengganu after testing positive for Covid-19. Tributes to the small-sized, humble man, who definitely left some big shoes to fill, poured in immediately from personalities in the legal fraternity. In extending her condolences to his family, Chief Justice Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat said Salleh had contributed so much to the Judiciary during his tenure as Lord President, calling his demise a great loss to the Judiciary and the nation. A native of Kampung Raja, Besut, Terengganu, Salleh was a law graduate from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, and had a Masters in International Law and Constitution from the University of London.
