THE coronavirus rate in all parts of Colchester continues to fall, with the borough s average rate falling by a third in a week. The latest Government figures show the borough s infection rate during the seven days to January 28 was 320 cases per 100,000 people. This is down from 481.8 cases per 100,000 people a week earlier. There were 623 cases of Covid confirmed in Colchester in the week to January 28. Infection rates have also dropped in all parts of Colchester compared with a week previously. The latest stats, for the seven days to January 27, show Mile End and Braiswick continues to have the highest infection rate, of 577.8 cases per 100,000 people, but this has dropped 24.6 per cent from a week earlier.

Coronavirus Colchester: Covid case rates falling across town

COVID cases have fallen in every part of Colchester over the last week, new figures have revealed. West Bergholt and Wormingford has seen the biggest week on week drop in the borough, with the case rate dropping 67.6 per cent. The area s infection rate is also the lowest in the borough at 168.9 cases per 100,000 people. Prettygate and Westlands has also seen a huge drop compared to seven days ago. It s case rate has dropped by 52.6 per cent with the infection rate in the area now 369.2 cases per 100,000 people. No area has seen an increase compared with a week ago. A day earlier both Horkesley Heath, Langham and Dedham and Old Heath and Rowhedge had seen a week on week increase.

COVID case rates have dropped dramatically across the Colchester borough over the past week. The largest week on week change was seen in Lexden where the number of cases dropped by 48.5 per cent in the space of seven days. Lexden s infection rate is also one of the lowest in the borough, with 299.9 cases per 100,000 people in the week to January 21. The case rate in West Bergholt and Wormingford has also dropped dramatically, by 46.9 per cent. The area now has the lowest infection rate in the borough, of 261.1 cases per 100,000 people. Rates continue to fall in most parts of Colchester, however, two areas have seen a week on week increase in cases.
