COLCHESTER S coronavirus infection rate has dropped with 708 cases confirmed in a week. According to the latest figures Colchester’s infection rate is now 363.6 cases per 100,000 people with 708 cases of Covid-19 confirmed across the borough between December 19 and December 26. This is down from 414 cases per 100,000 the day before. Tendring’s infection rate has also fallen slightly and is now sitting at 344.6 cases per 100,000 people after 505 cases were confirmed over the same period. This is down from 387.6 the day before. Both areas still have well below the average infection rate across Essex, which has also fallen to 796.7 cases per 100,000 people. Brentwood, Epping Forest and Thurrock remain the three worst affected areas in the country by infection rate.

Tendring’s infection rate has also fallen slightly and is now sitting at 387.6 cases per 100,000 people after 568 cases were confirmed over the same period. Both areas still have well below the average infection rate across Essex, which is 882.4 cases per 100,000 people. Brentwood, Epping Forest and Thurrock remain the three worst affected areas in the country by infection rate.
