The animal story that may have gotten the most attention this year was, unfortunately, a sad one. Ludwig an Argentine Dogo was shot to death in August by the husband of the president of Wayne, the small suburb that crosses the DuPage-Kane county line.
Police from Elgin were called out to Randall Road near the Walmart Tuesday after reports of a loose cow. The animal wandered to McLean Boulevard south of Spring Street before being caught with a lasso dangled out of the back window of a police vehicle that was trying to corral it.
