Minister of National Security commends Trinidad and Tobago as National Relief Collection Drive for St. Vincent and the Grenadines end
Port of Spain:On Friday May 07, 2021 the Minister of National Security, the Honourable Fitzgerald Hinds MP, officially brought to a close the national collection drive that was launched on behalf of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG).
The collection drive was initiated by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. the Honourable Keith C. Rowley MP, on Friday April 09, 2021, the date of the first explosive eruption of the La Soufrière Volcano. The Prime Minister simultaneously appointed the Ministry of National Security as the coordinating agency.
Minister Young meets with BHPTT
The Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister, the Honourable Stuart R. Young, M.P., held a meeting with BHPTT Executives, Vincent Pereira outgoing Country Manager, and Michael Stone, incoming Country Manager
today (Tuesday 4
th May 2021) to discuss BHP’s operations in Trinidad and Tobago, including the on-going transition from Mr. Pereira to Mr. Stone at the helm of BHP’s Trinidad and Tobago operations.
BHPTT took the opportunity to inform Minister Young that first oil production was realized today from the Ruby Field, ahead of schedule which was encouraging news.
Minister Young pleased at restart of M4 and M5 Plants
The Honourable Stuart R. Young, M.P., Minister of Energy and Energy Industries and Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister is pleased to note that the M4 and M5 Methanol plants at Pt Lisas have restarted.
Minister Young had been communicating with both the National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC) and Proman throughout the recent weeks and welcomes the fact that parties reached an agreement that led to the restart of M4 and M5.
The parties will continue to negotiate for a long-term gas supply agreement and the MEEI will continue to monitor this and communicate with the parties.
The Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries welcomes the Honourable Stuart Young
The Permanent Secretary (A.g) at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries Mrs. Penelope Bradshaw Niles along with other executives, welcomed the newly appointed Minister of Energy and Energy Industries, the Honourable Stuart R. Young, M.P. to the Ministry’s International Waterfront Complex Office today, 20 April 2021 where work immediately began with discussions related to the energy sector.
As an attorney-at-law and member of the Government Empowered Negotiation Team, the Honourable Minister Young worked on negotiations with international companies to finalize agreements on gas related issues and the restructuring of the gas value chain. This resulted in improved returns from the country’s hydrocarbon resources and overall financial and economic benefits to Trinidad and Tobago.
Defence Force personnel depart for St. Vincent and the Grenadines
Port of Spain: Fifty (50) members of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF) departed Trinidad and Tobago this morning, Tuesday April 13, 2021 to provide humanitarian and relief assistance to St. Vincent and the Grenadines following the eruption of the La Soufriere Volcano.
Officials comprising personnel from Engineers, infantry/provost, medical and logistics left on board the Galleons Passage at approximately 7:00 a.m. They will be stationed in St. Vincent and the Grenadines for two weeks, in the first instance.
Representatives from the Trinidad and Tobago Red Cross Society; the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA); and members of the media also departed on the Galleons Passage.
