Ministry of Social Development and Family Services begins sensitization series with Members of Parliament
Port-of-Spain - As part of her commitment to provide outreach services at the community level to the Members of Parliament across Trinidad and Tobago, Minister of Social Development and Family Services, Senator the Honourable Donna Cox is pleased to announce that the Public Information, Education and Sensitization Series has officially commenced today, Friday February 5, 2021.
Led by the Corporate Communications and Education Unit, the Ministry was able to engage staff of the Member of Parliament for La Brea, the Honourable Stephen Mc Clashie at the area s constituency sub-office located at #1384 S.S Erin Road, Rancho Quemado, as part of the Ministry’s thrust to ensure that no person is left behind.
Senator the Honourable Donna Cox lauds Local Business Owner of Xquisite Touch
Port-of-Spain - In keeping with the Ministry of Social Development and Family Services’ drive to build resilience and self-sufficiency among the citizenry, Senator the Honourable Donna Cox, Minister of Social Development and Family Services earlier today, attended the official business launch of K-Marie’s Xquisite Touch, a Hair and Make Up Salon, located along the Eastern Main Road, Curepe. Minister Cox was among other specially-invited guests who witnessed the official ribbon-cutting, which signalled that the doors of Xquisite Touch were now open for business.
On behalf of the Ministry, Minister Cox took the opportunity to commend, offer advice, as well as share some information and encouragement to the young entrepreneur, who is also a university graduate. Port-of-Spain - Minister of Social Development and Family Services, Senator the Honourable Donna Cox paid her respects to Ms. Sandra Des Vignes-Millington, also known as Singing Sandra, at a cultural farewell ceremony in Queens Hall earlier today. Also in attendance were Senator the Honourable Randall Mitchell, Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, Senator the Honourable Fitzgerald Hinds, Minister of Youth Development and National Family Services and the Member of Parliament for Laventille West, Mr. Winston ‘Gypsy’ Peters, Chairman of National Carnival Commission and Mr. Ancil Roget, the President of the Oilfield Workers Trade Union. Numerous calypsonians such as Sugar Aloes, Chalk Dust and Super Blue paid tribute to the cultural icon.
Centenarian credits faith in God, active-lifestyle for long life
Port-of-Spain - Covid-19 may have dampened many celebrations locally and worldwide, but it did not inhibit the spirit of Ms Christina Crichlow who celebrated her 100th birthday today – January 27, 2021. To celebrate the milestone, her children hosted a small celebration themed Aged to Perfection at her Beccles Street, home, Tacarigua, where attendees included relatives from Trinidad and also her children in Canada and North America, who joined via Zoom. Also celebrating Ms Crichlow’ s milestone birthday was Minister of Social Development and Family Services, Senator the Honourable Donna Cox, who’s first question to Ms Crichlow was: “What is the secret to your longevity?”

18th January, 2021, Port-of-Spain As a follow up to a previous meeting of high level stakeholders, held two weeks ago, Senator the Honourable Donna Cox, Minister of Social Development and Family Services, today (Monday January 18, 2021), engaged representatives of the business community. The meeting took place at the Linda Baboolal Meeting Room at Cabildo Chambers on St. Vincent Street, Port-of-Spain from 11:00 a.m. and was chaired by the Minister, who was also accompanied by her Executive team at the Ministry. The latter comprised Permanent Secretaries Jacinta Bailey-Sobers and Sheila Seecharan, Deputy Permanent Secretary, Vijay Gangapersad and Chief Technical Officer, Michael Reid; as well as technical officers from the Ministry’s Legal and Social Displacement Units.
