Hawaii County is expanding shelter locations, cancelling permits, halting public transit and restricting access to certain roads in preparation for Tropical Storm Calvin expected to hit the island Tuesday night.
Storm total rainfall amounts of 4-8 inches, with maximum amounts of 10 inches, are forecast, mainly along the windward side of Hawaii island. Storm total rainfall amounts of 3-6 inches are expected in the windward areas of Maui. For the rest of the state, total rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are expected.
