A district court judge this week dismissed a lawsuit alleging the Cedar Rapids City Council violated Iowa open meetings law in hiring Alissa Van Sloten as city clerk in 2021, siding with the city in finding that no violation of the law occurred.

35-year-old Cory Bounds, a sixth-grade technology applications teacher with Wagner Middle School was arrested by Temple police on Saturday, Sept. 25, just after midnight. The caller said an 11-year-old female was sexually assaulted by Bounds.
