Car in east oakland, that the police say was part of a Home Invasion robbery back on july 12th. The man he is fleeing. [gunfire] shots fired. One down, call the medical, send them in. Medical. Is the suspect down or an officer . Reporter Oakland Police say it was a sheriffs deputy firing 8 shots, killing a fleeing suspect described as a black male in his early 20s. The k9 officer was called in to search the neighborhood. We are conducting a search of the area to locate a weapon or any weapon. Reporter so far they found nothing. The police point out the Home Invasion included a pistol whipping. We know a firearm was associated to this crime. There is always a level of concern. He was a suspect but in a car two weeks ago . Reporter there are those here that feel police shoot too quickly. Imagining every situation to be life threatening. It is not.
