The restaurant located on Georgia Avenue in Downtown Silver Spring made the announcement through a Facebook post, where they thanked the community for their support. “Words cannot describe how appreciative we are to the community for allowing us to operate for 15 great years, but it’s time for us to focus on other pursuits and dedicate our passions evenly,” the post said. “It truly has been a pleasure to serve our local community and feel a part of something great.”

CDC: Fully Vaccinated People Can Now Unmask at Small Outdoor Gatherings The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued new outdoor mask guidance on Tuesday for people who are fully vaccinated. According to these new CDC guidelines, people who are fully vaccinated do not need to wear masks in small outdoor gatherings. This includes people who have received both doses of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines or the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. However, the CDC cautions that unvaccinated people still need to wear masks at small outdoor gatherings. MyMCMedia spoke with Dr. Audrey Escobedo about this new guidance.

Goshen Crossing Liquor and Wine Temporarily Closed, Awaiting COVID-19 Results Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) has temporarily closed its Goshen Crossing Liquor and Wine store in Gaithersburg after an employee presented COVID-19 symptoms and additional employees were told to quarantine. The employee stayed home with a fever on Monday and last worked at the liquor and wine store, located at 20004 Goshen Rd, on Saturday. The employee has tested negative for COVID-19, according to a press release.  Out of an abundance of caution, local health officials conducted contact tracing and directed additional employees to quarantine until they receive their COVID-19 test results. This resulted in a staffing shortage and caused the store to close on Tuesday.

$18 Million Jones Bridge Road Safety Enhancement Project Begins in North Chevy Chase The Maryland State Department of Transportation Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) is beginning an $18 million safety enhancement project along a half-mile portion of Jones Bridge Road in North Chevy Chase, the agency announced Tuesday. “This project is part of MDOT SHA’s ongoing commitment to the Vision Zero initiative to reduce traffic injuries and fatalities through Maryland,” MDOT Administrator Tim Smith said in the announcement. “We are implementing roadway solutions focused on safe movement and enhanced accessibility for all users of the system.” The work will be done by MDOT SHA’s contractor, E&R Services Inc. of Lanham and it includes the addition of a third left-turn lane to improve movement from eastbound Jones Bridge Road to northbound MD 185 (Connecticut Avenue). Other improvements include drainage and stormwater management upgrades, a shared-use path for bicyclists and pede
