Lobster boats going back and forth all the time, you see the islands, sailboats, all the activities that probably people think of a maine visit would be. We take a boat to fort gorgeous, a civil war era just off the portland kos. We are on hog island ledge. Where they built for gorgeous in 1858 to help defend portland harbor. We have completed an 18 6 it was completed in 1865 and was built with two sister forts off to the south. Its camel on how silent. They were designed to work in conjunction with each other to defend the harbor. Everyone thinks for gorgeous is a civil war fort when it was funded long before, and it was approved by congress. Things that occurred much earlier. We begin our feature on portlands history, talking about lobstering. In 2016, the Maine Lobster industry generated over 500 million. In 2007, we underwent restoration and renovation and 13,000 square feet of archival Storage Space to the building. E that is what were in today, temperature and humidity control, climate controlled space, we store our collection. E have offsite Storage Space we use for larger collections and since weve outgrown our location. We connect on main, but have broader scope and reach back to the 15th century, terrible hat is not a amount of our collection, the bulk of our materials are from he 18th century and 19th century, from about the 17001900, although we have colonial and dating from the 1600s relating to canada and ime newsmakers. Kron4s Charles Clifford has been tracking the situation all day. And joins us live from San Francisco tonight. Charles. Well, Market Street was finally reopened around 5pm this evening but the investigation into the shooting could continue for some time. Natsaccording to the San Francisco Police Department, just before 1130 wednesday morning two uniformed officers walking in the 900 block of Market Street witnessed a white adult male stabbing a philipino or asian male. The attack may have happened near or possibly inside a Subway Sandwich shop. The officers immediately intervened. Sot this is cell phone video of the scene captured by a fedex truck driver who was parked along Market Street. The driver says he saw people running. Sot happened. I just saw people coming out of subway. Following the shooting, the Police Department shutdown all lanes of Market Street between 5th and 6th streets and launched an investigation. A man was shot outside a home on Mount Frazier drive in East San Jose. He has been identified as 28yearold joseph tourino. Officers responded to a family disturbance. Tourino came out of the charged at one of the kitchen knives in both hands. An officer fired his gun. Killing tourino. The officer tuesdays shooting is a 15 year veteran.
