Woodbridge is on track to get a new high school.
On Wednesday, the Prince William County School Board agreed to purchase 20 acres of land on Telegraph Road, near the Caton Hill Commuter lot off Interstate 95.
The school division agreed to pay $2.7 million to Springfield’s Travers Family Partnership for the property. Previously, the school division considered purchasing land near Prince William Parkway and Hoadly Road in Woodbridge.
This will be the 14th high school to be built in the county and is scheduled to open in 2024. The school will house 2,500 students.
Dar Al-Noor mosque expansion approved
One of the largest mosques in the region will be getting bigger.
The Prince William Board of County Supervisors approved a special-use permit for the Muslim Association of Virginia, which operates the Dar Al-Noor Community Center at 5404 Hoadly Road near Dale City.
The unanimous vote came during one of the Board’s signature marathon meetings, which lasted 16 hours, adjourning at 4:24 a.m. Wednesday, February 3.
The vote clears the way to expand the mosque from 12,000 square feet to 88,000 square feet. A new daycare and school, both housing up to 200 children, an expanded prayer and banquet halls, youth activity rooms, a new public health clinic, and offices will be built as part of an expansion.

Those in Prince William County whose job is to investigate equal rights violations today said the county is rife with hatred.
This morning, the Prince William County Human Rights Commission, a board that since 1992 has investigated workplace equal rights violations in the county, issued a statement.
“As residents of one of the most diverse counties in the nation and the first majority County of color in Northern Virginia, we reject the scourge of hatred in our community,” penned Curtis Porter, Prince William County Human Rights Chairman, in a press release.
Traffic concerns at heart of proposed mosque expansion on Hoadly Road
The Dar Alnoor mosque and community center, one of the largest in the area, seeks to expand with a new school and a new floor on its existing building.
The Prince William Board of County Supervisors will take up the land-use case at its meeting on Tuesday, February 2, and decide whether to issue a special use permit to allow the expansion.
The mosque would more than quadruple in size, growing from 12,000 square feet in its building that opened in 2007 to nearly 90,000 square feet. A new school would be built next to the existing building at 5404 Hoadly Road, housing a total of 200 children in kindergarten through eighth grade and a daycare center.
