Decades after 9/11, Muslims battle plague of Islamophobia in US

HOUSTON, United States - Commemorations for the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks remain an important part of US history, but for Muslim-Americans, post-9/11 ramifications of Islamophobia have bled deep into the fabric of American society more than two decades later. "Muslims continue to be the target of hate, bullying, and discrimination as a result of the stereotypes that were perpetuated by Islamophobes and the media in the years following the 9/11 attacks," said Hussam Ayloush, executive director of the Los Angeles chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-LA). He said organizations like CAIR have helped make "tremendous strides" in countering narratives perpetuated by organizations and individuals who benefit from Islamophobia, but there is still "misinformation that fuels hate being spread online." "This misinformation can then be perpetuated within school curriculum that isn't properly vetted, within the workplace, and within

Davao reiterates ban on welcome, send-off in transpo hubs

DAVAO CITY - The city government here on Friday reminded the public about the ban on group welcome and send-off in the city's airports, seaports, and bus terminals as the number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) active cases started to increase anew. "It is not only because of Covid-19 but for reasons of safety and security. Only employees, workers, drivers, and passengers are allowed in these places," Mayor Sara Z. Duterte said in a statement. In February 2020, the mayor announced the permanent ban on greeters or send-off groups in transportation hubs here. Duterte said passengers can be dropped off and picked up by private or public transport drivers only. All welcome greetings and send-offs shall be made in their respective residences. In a separate statement Friday, Davao City Tourism Operations Office (CTOO) head Generose Tecson said there were instances last week when welcome greeters and send-off parties were spotted at the city airport and overland terminals.

partners holding the bag until the taliban was the only people on the ground that we could deal with. and also, i think it s pretty clear that the u.s. military doesn t have good intelligence, okay, because if they re claiming good intelligence, what does bad intelligence look like at this point, how is it they could not know who they re attacking, and there was an imminent threat when they killed a guy in his own parking lot in his own driveway around a bunch of children. we don t have good intelligence, and the taliban are not good security partners. we found that out when isis-k hit the airport. it s not working. that s not to say withdrawing was good or bad, we can say that the war on terrorism is over but the terrorists have a vote, and we can t take our troops out and think everything is going to be fine. as it turns out, the war on terrorism continues, even if afghanistan. they re not going to kill us just because we re not there, and we have to fight that mission with one hand

the last couple days before this had to happen? i rejected the premise of complete withdrawal, no conditions based from the time certain. that s a prescription for disaster. we saw isis-k hit the airport. wolf, that s when all the gates were welded shut. so like the girls that were supposed to get in to our siv applicants to our americans sitting outside the gate for hours, if not days not being able to get in as we had calls flooding into our offices, this was not done efficiently. i mean, you guys hear a lot of stories, wolf, and some i can t talk about right now because operational security. but now that we will be out of there, you will hear a lot of stories about what really happened. yeah. the reason they started this air lift so late is because they were stunned that the afghan military and the afghan government simply collapsed and simply gave up, walked away and the taliban came in to kabul,
