and donald trump. they were getting at the same dien kinds of issues. they were talking about problems. i think that this is not strained too far from that sort of same set of voters who are interested in blowing up the way things are in washington. elizabeth warren is trying to make end roads into that block of voters and going back to indiana, donald trump made a lot of noise around carriers staying in indianapolis and not shipping jobs over to mexico. she is there trying to make the point that she is not able to with hold those promises. and the big question i think we heard was whether or not her plans which she says are very detailed and focussed are actually going to pan out. i think a lot of people feel like a lot of promises from politicians and not a lot of results. i thought it was very interesting that that one woman in particular as our unemployment number shows it is lower than ever, that is not
it s just not possible they re going to get a deal today. what s happening today, there are going to be meetings at the staff level. they re starting as we speak, presumably. we don t know exactly who s involved in these meetings, but they ve been characterized to me as breakout sessions. so i think one on one, the white house counsel, pat cipollone, for example, is meeting with his counterpart. we know that there are also some meetings going on at the state department. i think what they re hoping for today, best-case scenario is to make some more progress on some of these areas that have been real sticking points. yesterday, i was told that during that big meeting that they had with the vice president and secretary of state, mexico said, look, we can put more troops at the border to try to prevent these migrants and when we say the border, are we talking the u.s./mexico border or the border of mexico with these triangle countries? i believe the u.s./mexico border, to make sure t

are having a meeting with the mexican delegation at 3:00, a meeting that wasn t scheduled last week. is there a chance this strategy is a it s so crazy, it just might work, and what s our measure to mexico doing more? reporter: well, from the white house s perspective, they feel like they re in the driver s seat. you heard that a little bit there from the president s rhetoric where he thinks that mexico is potentially hurting, that they ve sent all of their top people here and he can live and i think the same is true with china. president trump can live in a world where tariffs continue indefinitely because he thinks it will bring industry back home. that s his view of the world. all of the people who have tried to convince him otherwise have not been successful so far. i think one interesting question here for the next 24 hours is whether or not the white house is picking up any signals that congressional opposition, namely senate opposition to propose tariffs, is somehow differ
