New Delhi: Meena Harris, an American lawyer and the niece of US Vice President Kamala Harris, Friday responded to protests against her by a fringe right-wing Hindu nationalist outfit.
Harris has been very vocal on social media about her support for farmers in India amid widespread protests across New Delhi against the new farm laws.
Activists from ‘Hindu United Front’ burned posters of Harris, pop-star Rihanna and teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg for voicing their concerns for Indian farmers.
“I spoke out in support of human rights for Indian farmers, and look at the response,” Harris tweeted Thursday, sharing a photo by Reuters journalist Danish Siddiqui.

The incident followed after some members of the Hindu outfit dropped by the shop for snacks and insisted on ‘non-halal’ food but the shopkeepers said that only halal food was available.
