Last week, ICICI Lombard conducted a “hybrid” conference at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi with about three-dozen participants maintaining social distancing while hundreds attended the event virtually.

Apart from seeking financial viability through lower costs based on volumes, this shift is likely to be driven by travellers’ emerging preference to stay in branded properties with established cleaning and disinfection protocols, says Hilton India head and SVP Navjit Ahluwalia. Leisure travel is rebounding. Is business travel showing signs of revival too? People are really keen on travel for leisure. The very well-to-do are going to Dubai and Maldives, which are open to tourists. Others are going to leisure destinations in India. Goa and Jaipur are doing good business. Business travel is yet to pick up. Still, relatively smaller (tier-2) cities like Ahmedabad and Lucknow are seeing more business travel stays than metros.
