The Hillsborough Township Republican Organization sends it best wishes to Olivia Holmes who recently stepped down from the Hillsborough Township Committee as she continues to battle the effects of COVID-19. The pandemic continues to have broad reaching impacts on many of our residents, and it is our sincere hope that Ms. Holmes has a complete and speedy recovery. The process of appointing a replacement for Ms. Holmes has begun. The Hillsborough Township Democratic Party has submitted to the Township Clerk, three names of people to replace Ms. Holmes.
The names on the list, David Brook, Donetta Johnson and Jeffrey Wright, reflect the complete disregard the Hillsborough Democrats have for the voters of Hillsborough. “It is with a sense of deep regret that I have been informed that Committeewomen Olivia Holmes has, due to personal considerations, resigned her position on the Hillsborough Township Committee” stated Bill Dondiego, Chair of the Hillsborough Democratic Organization.
Ms. Holmes announced her decision and informed the Hillsborough Township Democratic Municipal Committee and the Hillsborough Township Committee on February 4th, effective immediately.
The Hillsborough Democratic Municipal Committee has 15 days to provide, to the remaining members of the Hillsborough Township Committee, the names of 3 Democrats to fill the vacancy on the Hillsborough Township Committee. The remaining members of the Township Committee have 30 days to choose among those whose names were submitted to serve until the next general election.

Hillsborough County Democratic Party Chair Ione Townsend announced this week sheâs running for chairman of the state party, rolling out endorsements by Tampa Bay and I-4 corridor party officials.
Townsend said in an interview she believes there is a path for her to win the crowded race to replace outgoing state party Chair Terrie Rizzo.
âThere is no true progressive in the race that has the experience and success that I have,â Townsend said. âI donât espouse my ideology loudly, but I am clearly on the left of the ideological scale.â
