Due to the pandemic, the usual assistance from inmate trustees has not been possible, and the new employee is expected to help the county keep up with maintenance jobs. A variance requested by a landowner in the 100 block of Farm Road 2114 in Aquilla was approved by the court. County Judge Justin Lewis said that a small tract of land cut off from the main tract by the roadway is being transferred to another landowner.

Hill County Judge Justin Lewis said that the regional testing center has been an important resource for the general public, nursing homes, schools and others who need access to testing. Hillsboro s location on the I-35 corridor also made it an attractive site to the state as a regional testing center. County officials were recently informed that the site, which is operated by a contractor for the state, would close at the end of the year. Lewis said that he had been in contact with state officials, including Department of State Health Services Commissioner John Hellerstedt, to request that the site stay open.
