We attended one of those events on Saturday (10/28/23) so our daugter could celebrate Halloween with her peers and it was way cooler than I thought it would be. The event was free, the children got candy and there was a dance party breaking out all over the lawn.
Every year for the past few, I cast a digital net, asking the listeners of the I-95 Morning Show to send me pictures of their Halloween costume. The first few years were not great, the costumes were not great, the picture quality was ass, they were simply underwhelming. But this year, this year was pretty, pretty, pretty good.
I have not been to Halloween on the Green in the past but my wife took my daughter last year. I remember because it was raining, and I heard about that when she got back. She said, even though the weather was bad, the organizers did a great job making sure all the kids had fun and the party went on, as-scheduled. I know some of the folks down at City Center so I know what a great job they do to pull these types of activities together.
It's amazing, we have an entire holiday that is based around fear and our attraction to it. We strip away our insulation from macabre, disturbing or gruesome thoughts. Instead, we lean in, and intentionally give ourselves a good scare.
