Salem-Keizer Spt Christy Perry proposes $1 49 billion schools budget

View Comments Salem-Keizer Superintendent Christy Perry presented her 2021-22 budget draft totaling $1.49 billion to the district budget committee Tuesday night. The budget projections are based on assumed statewide funding levels for the next biennium. At this point, Salem-Keizer officials are budgeting based on the Oregon State Legislature funding $9.4 billion for schools statewide, but more recent proposals from the Legislature are for $9.1 billion.  Even at $9.4 billion, the district would receive about $4 million less than last year. Perry said the increase in the State School Fund, also known as the SSF, would be the lowest level since climbing out of the Great Recession over eight years ago.
