Respects to george floyd. Today was George Floyds public visitation at a church in houston, which is where mrmr. Mr. Floyd grew up. At one point, the line to get into that visitation got so long it snaked around the building and into the parking lot. There were 200 people in line before the doors even opened. See those red tents there . Thats the red cross. It was so hot they were handing out water to people waiting in line because they were worried about peoples health. They were worried about heatstroke. Mourners turned up to pay their respects today had their temperatures checked at the door. They only let small handfuls of people into the church at a time to encourage social distancing. Everybody was required to wear a mask. But even with the heat, even with the inconvenience of the pandemic, members of the public waited patiently in line, donned their masks, and entered the church for the final opportunity to pay their respects to mr. Floyd before he is laid to rest next to his mo
North carolina, and now here in texas today, george floyd heads to his final resting place. And for family, friends, and even the city of houston, the mourning continues, but so, too, does the Movement Toward Police Reform in floyds memory. Thousands stood outside in houstons blistering sun, waiting for their chance to pay respect to one of their own whose life was cut short and reignited a worldwide movement. And i see that unity, and i see a bunch of people thats tired of, you know, the system. Staff testify before congress. Most especially his former White House Counsel Don Mcgahn who has emerged as one of the stars of the Mueller Report. Robert costa of the Washington Post spoke with the president tonight by phone. The post quotes trump as saying and we quote, there is no reason to go any further and especially in congress where its very partisan, obviously very partisan. And again costa and his colleagues also report, quote, the white house plans to fight a subpoena issued by the house jow dishiary committee for former White House Counsel Don Mcgahn to testify. The administration also plans to oppose other requests for house committees for the testimony of current and former aides about actions in the white house about muellers report. White house lawyers plan to tell attorneys for administration witnesses called by the house that they will be asserting executive privilege over their testimony.
