Amit Jethwa was shot dead by assailants in 2010 while outside the gates of the Gujarat High Court, days after he filed a petition accusing Solanki of being involved in illegal mining near Gir forest.
The remarks were reportedly made by Chief Minister Banerjee in the wake of the High Court's decision to quash the appointment of around 24,000 teachers in its verdict in the school jobs for cash case.
