Nanotechnology Now - Press Release: New Cypher VRS1250 Video-Rate Atomic Force Microscope Enables True Video-Rate Imaging at up to 45 Frames per Second

Our NanoNews Digest Sponsors Home > Press > New Cypher VRS1250 Video-Rate Atomic Force Microscope Enables True Video-Rate Imaging at up to 45 Frames per Second Abstract: Oxford Instruments Asylum Research today announced the launch of the new Cypher VRS1250 video-rate atomic force microscope (AFM). Twice as fast as the first-generation Cypher VRS, the new AFM enables scan rates up to 1250 lines/second and frame rates up to 45 frames/second. This new higher speed will enable researchers to capture nanoscale details of dynamic events that were previously inaccessible, including biochemical reactions, 2D molecular self-assembly, and etch and dissolution processes and more. The Cypher VRS1250 is unique among high-speed AFM’s in that it can also support a full range of modes and accessories, not just high-speed imaging, which makes it a very versatile tool for large interdisciplinary research groups and shared imaging facilities with multiple projects.

Nanotechnology Now - Press Release: World's first fiber-optic ultrasonic imaging probe for future nanoscale disease diagnostics

Home > Press > World s first fiber-optic ultrasonic imaging probe for future nanoscale disease diagnostics Concept art showing the 3D mapping of microscopic objects by the phonon probe system. The optical fibre contains a metal layer on its tip and projects red laser light into the specimen CREDIT Dr Salvatore La Cavera Abstract: Scientists at the University of Nottingham have developed an ultrasonic imaging system, which can be deployed on the tip of a hair-thin optical fibre, and will be insertable into the human body to visualise cell abnormalities in 3D. Nanotechnology Now - Press Release: Experiments cast doubts on the existence of quantum spin liquids

Nanotechnology Now Home > Press > Experiments cast doubts on the existence of quantum spin liquids Arrangement of the spins in a triangular lattice: Two spins each form a pair, whereby their magnetic moments cancel each other out when viewed from the outside. CREDIT University of Stuttgart, PI1 Abstract: When temperatures drop below zero degrees Celsius, water turns to ice. But does everything actually freeze if you just cool it down enough? In the classical picture, matter inherently becomes solid at low temperatures. Quantum mechanics can, however, break this rule. Therefore, helium gas, for example, can become liquid at -270 degrees, but never solid under atmospheric pressure: There is no helium ice.
