Nagaland Judo Association forms ad-hoc committee

Dimapur, Sep. 10 (EMN): An ad-hoc committee was formed during a meeting of the Nagaland Judo Association on September 9, 2022 in the office of the Nagaland Olympic Association. It said the committee would chalk out plan to conduct a selection trial of judokas and arrange preparatory coaching camp for participation in the 2nd North East Olympic Games. An update from the association also stated that they would also undertake all organisational tasks for early formation of the State Judo Association in consultation with the Nagaland Olympic Association. The committee consists of Neivikuolie Khatsu as convener, Dr. Talitemsu Ao as secretary, and Dr.Hiabe Zeliang, Akhozo Ringa, and Megolhu Dolie as members.

Nagaland Wrestling Association felicitates international medal winners

Our Correspondent Kohima, June 27 (EMN): The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) felicitated Kedouvilie Zumu and Nlumrai, who won bronze medals at the 6th International Sports Festival – Belt Wrestling Championship, Pearl of Kyrgyzstan 2022 at Chon-sary-oi, Kyrgyzstan. A felicitation programme was held in their honour at Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) building in Kohima on Monday. Nagaland’s Director General of Police (DGP) T John Longkumer, attended the occasion and hailed the NWA for building the foundation, providing the way and the road map for the wrestlers through their support and platform to the youngsters. He stated that wrestling is a traditional sport especially for the Tenyimis, a heritage of the sporting past and appreciated the NWA for making it more inclusive and opening doors even for other tribes. Towards this, he remarked, “This is how unity happens, by making your traditional sports, your heritage and sharing with the rest of Nagaland”. T

Two Naga wrestlers win medals at international tournament

Dimapur, June 18 (EMN): Two wrestlers from Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) — Keduovilie Zumu and Nlumrai Hegwang — won bronze medals at the international sports festival – Pearl of Kyrgyzstan (belt wrestling), held at Cholpan, Ata Kyrgyzstan. Informing this in a press release, NWA president Dr. Hiabe Zeliang and General Secretary Vilekho Bio said that Hegwang participated in under 80 kg category and Zumu in the 80+ kg category, representing the All India Traditional Wrestling and Pankration Federation (AITWPF) at the international sports festival, which concluded on Saturday. Both of them, also part of the Nagaland DGP sports team, secured bronze medals in their respective categories, the NWA said. Around 10,000 sportspersons from 30 countries are participating in the sports festival, which has more than 30 different sports disciplines with judo and belt wrestling as the main events, they said.
