homes and businesses and one person reported injured. bill: some eye opening details now on an option that could finally break the deadlock in washington. democrats are pushing for more taxes, republicans refusing to raise those taxes. now both sides could get their way by taking on the tax code itself. jim angle, live in d.c. what are we talking about here and what is the potential in savings? reporter: democrats have made clear they want additional revenues for decifit reduction, republicans are equally clear they won t accept an increase in tax rates, but several leaders in both parties have talked about one possibility that might satisfy both at the same time, cleaning up the deductions and subsidies in the tax code and using some savings for decifit reduction and some to actually reduce tax rates. listen: this is where the revenue deal is to be done. i don t think there s the political will to do

she ll continue to receive treatment from doctors and therapists that have been treating her, that includes music, speech, occupational therapy. when she goes home she ll have a 24-hour a day home health care provider to assist her. overall those close to giffords say this is a new phase in her recovery, her doctor saying congresswoman giffords has shown clear, continuous improvement from the moment she arrived five months ago, she have no doubt she ll continue to make significant strides in her recovery. recently her chief of staff told the arizona republic that as far as communicating, congresswoman giffords uses a combination of words, gestures, facial expressions, but that putting complex thoughts together is still difficult. yet, her doctors put her in the top 5 percent of patients who are recovering from this kind of injury. alisyn: we ve been so focused on her survival and her recovery. we haven t talked, of course, about her career. what is the status of her seat in congress?
